Mary M. Walsh School is focused on delivering high quality standards based education to all of its students. The staff uses the Massachusetts Common Core Standards to ensure that all students receive the skills needed to be successful. The staff has initiated a school wide response to intervention program based upon data collection and an eight week progress monitoring system. We have three retired teachers and five intervention teachers that adjust their schedules and plans to the needs of the students. We have also added a writing intervention teacher in grades 3-5 this year. This is complimented with the most up to date technology including Smart Boards in every classroom, mobile laptop carts, desk top computers, and in certain grades, handheld Nook devices. We also offer a wide array of web based learning opportunities such as Accelerated Reader, and Succcessmaker and an after school tutoring program. The staff continues to work on a positive culture that includes every student, staff member, and family. Walsh School has implemented the Positive Behavior Incentive System (PBIS) this year. Along with creating monthly behavior goals with assemblies to celebrate the students successes, we have participated in the Home Visit Program, which has allowed our staff to visit ninety of our families.


The most important factor in a childs education is their teachers. At Walsh, we have a dedicated faculty of 100% highly qualified teachers. The faculty has immersed itself in learning and implementing the best research based teaching practices currently available designed to promote student engagement. We are fortunate to have the support of consulting partners in our work, including Focus on Results, the Collaboration for Change, and Behavioral Health Network. We are a learning community that supports students and adults in the learning process so each individual can maximize their potential.
